What Could Be The Treatment For A Child Of Seven And Half Years With Shaky Head ?

My son who is 7 and a half has started again to shake his head from left to right quite vigourously. We saw a doctor back in July for this and he said it was nothing to worry about and would go away he would just grow out of it. It did stop for 3 months but has come back again and now my son is complaining that one side of his head and his neck hurts, what should we do?

I am so sorry to hear about this shaking of the head. Repeated uncontrolled movements of the head would definitely cause pains around the neck.. In infants this such symptoms, the possible cause could be tics. These are characterized by repetitive purposeless movements. Treatment often entails drugs and psychotherapy. I will suggest that you get your child evaluated by a psychiatrist for possible confirmation and treatment.
