What Could Be The Reason For Spotting After Having Total Hysterectomy And Radioactive Iodine Therapy For Thyroid Cancer Previously?
Hi. I had a total hysterectomy 2 and half years ago ,kept my ovaries, have had episode of spotting. I had been to gym but just did my usual workout. Not too strenuous. Have had radioactive iodine therapy for thyroid cancer in November 2013, after removal of thyroid gland. I am worried that there might be a connection somehow or could it be something like granulated tissue this long after hysterectomy. I have apps with gynecologist in March but it is making me very anxious. This would appreciate advice.
Hi Most of the patients that I have seen with bleeding after hysterectomy have granulation tissue. It is possible that due to certain posture or exercise that granulation tissue kind of got bruised and bled. If you still have on and off bleeding your doctor might prescribe you some antibiotics and can offer to cauterise / burn it. It is unlikely to be associated with thyroid cancer but you can have an ultrasound to be safe. Thanks
