What Could Be The Reason For Having Eye Pain And Swelling In Temple After Hitting?

My son who just turned 12 was accidentally punched in his left eye by his 5 yr old cousin. His eye was hurting for a bit but I put a warm cloth on it. He said his head was hurting & his left temple is a little swollen. What could be the cause of this?

Hello
It seems from the history that your son is having pain in the eyes and swelling in the temple following a punch injury by his brother.
The pain is because of impact of injury.
The swelling is because of collection of blood in the layers of skin as a result of injury.
The treatment of swelling is by using cold compression and use of antiinflammatory drugs.
The pain requires evaluation to find out eye injury if any and treatment accordingly.

Thank you
