What Could Be The Reason For Experiencing Itchiness On My Face?

it's been months that I am experiencing itchiness on my face and I noticed that it started when I went to the salon for a hair color treatment. its been a month now since I last went to the salon and the itchiness on my face seems just gotten worst as my face got swollen and reddish. I am not sure if its the creams I'm using on the face that causes the itchiness or the hair color that was applied on my hair, a month ago. thanks!

Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM

I would keep a possibility of dryness/xerosis of face which can be associated with mild dermatitis secondary to the products/creams which you are using on face.

Use a mild cleanser like cetaphil twice daily.

If i was your treating doctor i would have advised a good moisturizer twice daily.

If irritation is still bothersome then i usually ask my patients to apply a moderately potent steroid cream like fluticasone twice daily for a week, thereafter moisturizer can be continued.

take care

Hello,
Welcome to healthcare magic.
From your history, you could have developed an allergic contact dermatitis to the hair color. The allergy can have a delayed onset and hence the symptoms appear late. However , since you have not mentioned any itching on the scalp , one can also think of other possibilities like contact dermatitis to cosmetics( if you have changed to any new brands lately), drug induced photosensitivity( are you on any medications) , rosacea and polymorphic light eruption.
You could do an open patch test before you col our your hair next time and look for reactions.
Hope this helps you.
Take care.
