What Could Be The Discolored Spot Of Skin On Back Of Calf Which Is Itchy And Painful?

Hello, I have a discolored spot of skin on the back of my left calf that is intermittently itchy, is numb to the touch but hurts when I press on it. No recent injury or insect bite; first noticed 2-3 weeks ago, getting worse over the last week. Any idea what this could be?

Hi,
I can understand your concern for the discolored spot of skin on back of calf which is itchy and painful. You have not told us your age, sex and occupation along with other of relevant clinical histiry to reach to the exact diagnosis.

It is too early to reach to conclusive point of exact diagnosis of the discolored spot. It can be due to simple dryness or due to some contact allergens also. The best part of your thing is to observe and wait.

Till that time do not pinch, pop or scratch the area. Keep the area dry and wear cotton clothes. Change the clothes two time a day. Do not get exposed to extremes of environment and protect yourself from heat and humidity.

I suggest you to apply bland moisturizing cream for 4-5 time stop keep it moisturized.

Take antihistamine such as loratadine or cetrizine if itching is present. Do not apply any mixed cream or mixed ointments as it causes further aggravation of the problem.
