What Could Be The Cause Of Pain And Redness Around The Anus Of A Child ?
Hi please can you help? My seven year old daughter is in a lot of pain at her bottom. Her anus is slightly red around it. She says it s a jaggy pain and was sore when she went to the toilet. I put her in a bath and put sudocream on but she is saying it is so sore and crying with the pain

First of all I would like to know about the bowel habit and nature of stool of your daughter.Hard stool often causes local injury and causes pain around anus .When the soft mucosa or tissue is injured then every time she went to toilet for defecation she fears about the pain.So if the stool is very hard then it should be taken care first.For 7 year old baby diet containing high fiber should be taken along with proper(regular) toilet training and sometimes few drugs may help her.
The another possibility is worm infestation and it can be managed easily by single dose of antihelminthic(Albendazole)drug.Usually no surgical condition is occur in this age group.
Finally I always request you to visit to your pediatrics for the best solution.

Perhaps your daughter might have worm infestation and due to constant irritation and itching that part becomes sore giving her this problem.
She might have fissure in ano.
Go for stool test for ova and cyst.
Consult surgeon to rule out fissure.
Apply antibiotic cream locally and if your doctor advises go for antibiotic medicine.
