What Could Be The Cause Of Fever, Headache And Memory Loss?

my daughter is living in a dorm on college campus this year and has experienced rashes, fever, headaches, body aches and now suffers from lack of ability to finish her thoughts and suddenly is struggling testing. The campus found mold in her room and CO2 levels at 1250-1500 and claim they have resolved these issues. However, the memory loss just started and when she left town this past weekend, her fever and aches and rash disappeared. Now she has returned to her room and has a fever and headache. What could be causing this and should we push to move her to a different dorm room for the remainder of the semester?

Hi,

Well, that certainly seems to be a bit of a dilemma. I don't know that there is any way to prove that all her symptoms are due to things that are in her environment such as the air of the room, the bed linens, paint on the walls, lacquer or other chemicals used to treat any furniture in the room, carpeting, etc. But, I can tell you that one of the quickest and easiest ways to figure out whether anything in that room could be the trigger would be to move her.

I would be shocked in the university made any fuss about wanting to move her since she sounds miserable where she's at and if this were my child...I'd just make the move and then, let's get on with it...make sense? The other thing you might consider is just have her see an allergist who can test her to see what things she actually may be triggered by anyways so that if the same thing starts happening in the other room...there might be a set of items that you can look into as being allergenic that could be present.

If a change of dorms or rooms doesn't seem to work...you might consider an off-campus house or apartment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
