What Could A Lump Like Feeling In Throat With A Sore Throat?

i feel a lump -like feeling in my throat when straining while lifting weights. Sometimes i feel it later in the day also. over the past week i feel it later in the day almost everyday. also, have sore throat. I am a tobacco user. also, i do have some burning sensation in stomach. used to take omeprazole, but not now. what could this be?

Hi, thank you for posting your query on health care magic.

I have gone through your query.

Lump like feeling in the throat can be due to Inflammation in the throat, Gastroesophageal reflux,etc.

Your may find relief by taking following medicines:
Analgesic with Anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen,
Continue Omeprazole with Antacid like Liquid Digene.

Also do warm saline gargles.Drink lots of fluids warm.

In case of acid reflux,avoid spicy,citrus,oily food.
Minimise tea and coffee intake.
Avoid caffeine drinks.
Drink 2-3 litres of water in a day.
Eat slowly.
Reduce weight in case of obesity.
Take a minimum gap of 2-3 hours between eating and sleeping.
You can also little raise your head end of bed while sleeping.
Also avoid smoking as it may lead to acid reflux and also inflammation in the throat.

If after taking following measures,still your symptoms are not improved,then it would be advisable to consult an Otolaryngologist doctor.If required,an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy might be needed by a Gastroenterologist doctor.
