Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i found a fentanyl patch in my boyfriends stuff..i want to know if these are like herion cause he had aproblem before but now i wonder cause he's been acting kind of funny like sometimes his eyes are glossy..i need to know how this drug effects someone and if i should be concerned that hes falling back into using precription drugs
I understand your concern. Fentanyl is a narcotic pain medicine which can be addictive. The patch form can be very dangerous if used in any other form instead of on the skin. This drug is known to have many side effects, especially breathing problems. Glossy eyes is also one of the effects of Fentanyl. Most probably, your boyfriend got this medication through other ways, rather than as a prescription, in order to feed his addiction. Fentanyl patch should be handled and disposed of with care due to the fact that it can be potentially lethal if someone, especially small children come into contact with it leading to chewing, ingestion or inhalation. I would advise you talk to your boyfriend about the dangers of addiction and encourage him to seek help in overcoming his addiction before it affects his health irreversibly.
Wishing you both all the best.
