What Contraceptive Can I Use?

I am a 32yr old female. No previous pregnancies. Previous oral contraceptives did not work for me. We do not want children at this stage. I really struggle with my weight, I am 30kg overweight as it is. My gynae prescribed qlaira, I've been on it for6 weeks and can feel how I am gaining weight, I get the moat terrible hot flushes and also get diarhea from time to time... What contraceptive can you suggest to use, and still lose weight?

Hello,

Oral contraceptive pills have certain side effects & weight gain is one of them. If you are overweight, you should consult your gynecologist & go for IUD instead of oral BC pills. You can also use external methods like condoms, diaphragm, birth control sponge or cervical cap.

To reduce weight, do regular exercise, stay well hydrated, reduce salt & calorie's intake, stay away from junk food, take a healthy diet. You can also use herbal products to suppress your appetite & help reduce weight.

Take care.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
