Hello, and I hope I can help you today.
Unfortunately a bubbly
vaginal discharge with odor that is heavy enough to necessitate tampon use is most likely a
vaginal infection that will require a doctor's prescription to treat it.
Bacterial vaginosis, which is a bacterial infection of the vagina, is the most likely culprit and this requires a doctor visit for accurate diagnosis and antibiotics for treatment.
There are over-the-counter products designed to correct vaginal pH that can help reduce the odor but these products are expensive and may add up to the same amount at the cost of the antibiotic jelly that you really need for treatment.
In the U.S., Planned Parenthood provides free and low-cost gynecologic care for women, having nothing to do with
abortion services. It may be a good option for you to look into if there is one in your area. Also some other online medical sites actually can prescribe treatments- I do not know what these cost or if they have them in your area.
In the meantime, it is not good to use tampons for the discharge as it keeps the infected fluid inside. Use pads or liners, and wash externally with antibacterial soap as this may help to reduce the odor.
I hope this information was helpful and that you are able to get proper treatment soon.
Best wishes, Dr. Brown
