I have had a yellow mucus like discharge for about the last month. I did have spotting for 2-3 days in November, but nothing further. I am also 6 months postpartum and not on birth control.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Pregnancy tests detect the HCG hormone, this hormone is normally detectable by day 11 to 14 after conception. If the tests were done after this time, then they are accurate but if they would done before this time then you may need to wait a few days and repeat.

If you are breast feeding, this would be the cause of your delayed periods.

If this is not the case then the other causes of delayed period would need to be considered such as: (1) emotional stress or illness, excess fatigue
(2)abnormal levels of thyroid hormone
(3)physical illness
(4)side effect of medication
(5)abnormal levels of the prolactin hormone
(6)polycystic ovarian syndrome

Because you had a baby a few months ago and it can take time for the body to go back to normal in some women, your doctor would likely consider monitoring first before doing any testing

I hope this helps
