What Causes Yellow Mucous Discharge From Eyes?

I ve been suffering from a yellow sticky mucus coming from my eyes. This has been going on for a few months now. It s not everyday but some days its really bad and others its very mild. I can pull the string of mucus out of my eye as it wraps around my entire eye. The mucus is sometimes very thick and always smells like onions. At least that s the best way to describe it. I also get pains in my tonsils from time to time and can feel a lump under my chin. I m not sure if this is all related.

Hi,

Thanks for your question.

After going through your question, I can understand your concern.

There might be following possibilities for your symptoms -
- Infection of lacrimal system. Dacryocystitis.
- Conjunctivitis.

Both may occur secondary to ENT infection (Tonsillitis)

You should consult ophthalmologist for detailed clinical examination.

There may be need for antibiotic eye drops with oral antibiotics.

Hope this helps you, if so do vote as helpful.
