What Causes Yellow Eyes, Fever And Headache?

Good Morning Dr, and thank you for your time. My domestic worker has yellow eyes, fever, headaches and fatigue. Went to Government hospital and they told her that her blood is dirty, but no medication was given as she must come back in four weeks time. What could I give her in the meantime to ease things for her. Thank you. Maryna Allers

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Good morning.
I am sorry to know about the reason given for your domestic worker's illness given by the government hospital staff.

However, based on the history given she seems to be suffering from viral hepatitis A which needs to be confirmed by relevant tests such as liver function tests and serological tests for viral hepatitis.

Hepatitis A usually spreads when a person ingests contaminated food or water or drinks by feces or stool from an infected person.

She should be examined by a doctor for proper clinical assessment and treatment.

Meanwhile she should take bed rest, take a healthy balanced diet, avoid fatty and spicy meals, increase the intake of fruits and vegetables, increase the fluid intake to keep well hydrated.

Do not give her any medication without consulting a doctor.

Hope the advice given above would be useful to her.
