I have recently noticed a yellow coating on my tongue. It does not go away even after brushing my teeth & tongue. I haven t noticed any health changes. I m 60 yrs old, still working and actively work out 4 days a week. I take meds for high cholesterol (now under 200) and osteoarthritis. Any ideas what may be causing this? Thank you!
Hi. Thanks for your query, read and understood your concerns. The yellow fur type coating of the tongue which does not get cleared of it is not a disease as such but may be manifestations of intestinal problems you have. This can occur due to many diseases too and due to some medicines. The exact cause of such a condition is not known and not to be feared. It is possible that stopping the medicine for high cholesterol may clear this on its own. You may please stop this medicine as the cholesterol is below 200.
