What Causes Wrist Pain After An Injury?

Hi, last week i had a motorcycle accident, i had pain in my wrist, nothing shown up on the x-ray, however the doctor said i may have broken my scaphoid, and gave me a splint and gave me an appointment for 7 days time. Im still in the same pain now, however the wrist is not bruised nor swollen. Is there any real reason why he couldnt give me diagnosis when i was first there?

Hello,

Scaphoid fractures are difficult to be diagnosed on a simple X-ray. You can get a digital X-ray or better an MRI scan done to find out the extent of injury you have suffered.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Dr Praveen Tayal, Orthopaedic Surgeon
