What Causes Wound Odor Post Anal Skin Tag Removal?

I had a skin tag removed from my anal area three days ago. The wound has dissolving stitches, and I think it has become infected. I have been showering after every bm and also am and pm, but it's starting to have an odour. I'm also feeling really cold. Should I go to my GP?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns.

As per your complain bad odour from wound site after anal skin tag removal seems to be due to infection at the site of surgery leading to discharge of infectious fluid as well as foul smell from the area..
You should consult your treating surgeon and get evaluated and if there is infection he can advise you to take oral and injectable antibiotics, anti-inflammatory painkiller like motrin or aleve, he can do an antibiotic dressing by cleaning with Povidone iodine or betadine solution and apply triple antibiotic ointment over it..
You should also avoid water exposure or moisture in that area as well as keep the area dry and clean for faster resolution of infection and healing of wound..
