Hi. I've read that atenolol can release histamine in the body. Can this cause your seasonal allergies to be worse? I only take 25mg of atenolol. I have a tickle in my throat and chest when I breathe in... Wasn't sure if the atenolol could cause worsening of allergies? Thank you..
Hi, dear I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern. Atenolol is predominantly beta blockers and anti hypertensive. It has no significant effect on histamines. If you have allergy then you should take antihistaminics like chlorpheneremine malate or cetrizine. Steroids can be used but with caution. Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
