What Causes White Tissue After Taking Birth Control Pill?
Well I missed my period on the expected day but also on the expected day I was put on birth control & hadn t started until now . My period usually starts around the 23rd . It still hadn t came until yesterday . I just started birth control last month . But today I passed a clot the size of my palm but strange thing is that it was partially white .... I m worried that could it have been a miscarriage or am I just freaking out because I did have unprotected sex but taken two tests on the timings it was due and both came up negative . What could be the problem ?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, I understand your concern. Birth control does not cause white tissue- I am afraid you had started the contraceptive while you were already pregnant.( Actually contraceptive pills are to be started after menses set in.) Because of the hormones in contraceptive, the pregnancy was disturbed/ got nonviable ( missed abortion- that's why -ve pregnancy test.) which was expelled as a palm sized whitish red piece of tissue. I would advise you to consult a gynecologist, get examined & investigated to confirm clearing of uterine cavity- & the resume contraceptive as per her advise( which/when & how to take contraceptive, that suit you.) Thanks.
