What Causes White Stool?

I had surgery removing the area in which I had diverticulitis. I was doing great, but last weekend some of the symtom came back. I was throwing up for a day and diarrhea for days. I was only eating once a day cause of the pain and crampimg. I went three day without a bowl movement and when I did have one it was hard to go. my stool was almost white in color. Does this possible blockage.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history of surgery to remove the segment with diverticulitis , was doing fine bu for the last three days have pain in abdomen, loose stools, vomiting, then constipation with white stool.
Wants to know the possibilities.
All the history is suggestive that you have possibly the following problems:
Intestinal obstruction due to previous anastomosis going into fibrosis.
Fecal impaction.
Obstructive jaundice causing white stools.
Gastroenteritis.
I would advise you the following:
X-ray of the abdomen in standing position to know whether there is intestinal obstruction.
Tests of stool: also see for sterobilinogen present or not, if absent then there is obstructive jaundice.
Blood- Particularly for CBC, liver function tests.
Urine; Routine and bile salt and pigments.
CT scan of the whole abdomen.
Clinical evaluation by a General Surgeon and to decide whether you needs a medical management and/or surgical intervention to get a complete relief.
I find this answer helpful
