What Causes White, Sticky Mucus Formation In Nasal Passage?
I have mucus formation regularly in my nasal passage near the throat. Its not like cough i have. But there is this regular formation and i have to spit it. Its white color and sticky and not thick almost like the spit. Its been 3 months now. What could be the reason.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain thick mucous formation that comes in throat and needs to be spitted seems to be due to post nasal drip and the most common cause of it seems to be sinus infection or sinusitis.. Other causes can be upper respiratory tract infection, chest infection, acid reflux etc.. I would suggest you to conslt an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Sputum culture,Nasal endoscopy, chest x ray, sinus x ray etc as per suspected cause can help in diagnosis and treatment.. As of now you can take mucolytics like Ambroxol and do warm saline gargles and steam inhalations.. Avoid spicy and chilled foods and drink plenty of warm water..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
