What Causes White Spots And Tingling In The Tongue?

Yesterday after eating a sandwich and some chocolate, my tongue felt weird and tingly, then begun to swell. When I looked in a mirror in the bathroom I had a pinpoint blood spot on my tongue and there were whitish spots on the tip of my tongue. My tongue feels weird and it hurts uncomfortably. Is it possible that a parasite has burrowed into my tongue and laid eggs?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, thank you for posting.

I have gone through your query and I understand your concerns.

White spots and tingling on tongue are caused by candida albicans(fungus).
The treatment in this case is simple. You can take nystatin oral suspension medicines.
You should avoid spicy and acidic foods and desserts.
Alcoholic drinks and smoking are factors that aggravate fungus so these are not recommended.

To determine the diagnosis you need these tests:
1. Tongue culture.
2. Complete blood count.
3. Urine test.

Contact your infectologist.

Take Care.
Dr. Behar.
