What Causes White Pus In The Back Of Throat?

I went to the dr last night because I have had a sore throat for the past 4 days which is getting worse,,it is starting to hurt my ears as well. He did not prescribe antibiotics but suggested alkalol and a nose spray. Today I have a few white puss balls in the back of my throat. Is that not an infection and why would I not be prescribed antibiotics to treat it?

Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. If puss balls like appearance is there then it is bacterial infection. Sore throat mostly start as viral infection. For viral infection antibiotic is not needed but if secondary bacterial infection comes then antibiotic is needed. You can approach your doctor for antibiotic therapy. For such condition I would suggest antibiotics like Co-amoxiclav or Azithromycin and solutions for gargling like chlorhexidine. Take warm fluids like tea with lemon and honey, warm chicken soup with pepper. Taking chewable vitamin C is helpful also.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
