What Causes White Patches Under The Tongue And Inside Cheeks?

Hi Doctor, For the last about two months I am having white patches under my tongue on both sides,( though left side is minor) and minor patches inside of cheeks. I don t smoke, eat beetle or chew pan. I have however been taking alcohol since long but only one/two pegs on weekends/ parties. I have undergone detailed blood tests, USG of neck and abdomen and tests for vitamin deficiency. These tests have not revealed any problem except deficiency of vit. D and vit. B12. Doctor has presented doses of vitamins which I am taking for about 20 days now along with a anti oxidant. I have also started taking lot of green vegetables and fruits. Doctor didn t advise biopsy at this stage.Through Google I have come to know that Ayurvedic medicine G 32 can be very effective without any side effects. What is your view on this. Whether my problem also could be oral yeast infection, as I do have a mild sore throat as well. If so, can you suggest some medicine. Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of white patches under the tongue and inside cheeks which seems to be due to two main reasons such as due to fungal infection/ oral thrush due to poor nutrition , poor oral hygiene and antibiotics in case of sinus infection. It can occur due to excessive dryness due to infection. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult oral pathologist for proper examination and rule out causes like lichen planus and geographic tongue and also ENT surgeon for proper treatment of sinusitis . Avoid intake of sharp, spicy and fried food. For now clean your tongue properly and do antiseptic mouthwash rinses (Listerine), maintain proper oral hygiene , suck on sugar free candy and keep yourself hydrate by drinking plenty of water.
