Hi Dear,

White patches on tongue as per your query seems to be due to poor oral hygiene, dehydration, mouth breathing and geographic tongue. Oral thrush is one of the commonest cause and mainly due to poor oral cavity hygiene.

I would suggest you to

- Maintain proper oral hygiene by brushing and flossing daily.

- Do warm saline rinses and betadine gargles.

- Chew on sugar free candies.

- Do antiseptic mouthwash rinses (listerine) .

Consult oral pathologist for proper examination and doctor may scrape white tissue attached to mucosa and get it biopsied to find out exact cause . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics , artificial saliva substitute or recommend CPAP machine for night.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
