What Causes White Chalky Stuff On Sides Of Mouth After Using Inhale?
My 2 year son is getting white chalky substance on the sides of his mouth he has been taken a ventilin inhaler the past four nights as he has a hoopy sounding cough when i put him down to bed and he looses his breath when coughing could this substance be from the inhaler
Suggestive of ventolin inhaler induced side effects. Based on the history your son seems to be suffering from early features of a dental caries apparently caused by excessive deposition of the medicine ventolin into his oral cavity (mouth).
This can be prevented by maintaining good oral hygiene practices like proper tooth brushing after every meal and use of dental floss at least once a day. Inhaler with a spacer device will help to reduce the ventolin deposits in the oral cavity and oropharynx can also be used.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
