What Causes White Ball Next To Tonsils?

Hi, Just today my 17yr. old daughter showed me a white ball of something next to her tonsils. She said that she gets them about every couple of months. She can t remember when they started. She said that they come out pretty easily. It looks like a clumpy white little ball of cottage cheese. Do you have any idea what it coule be? I ve never seen anything like it. Thanks!

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Whitish cheesy materials collect in the crypts and pits of tonsils due to food particles, debris , exudates etc. It may lead to formation of stones (tonsilloliths) if present for long by deposition of calcium. It is harmless if not causing any reaction or infection. May be extruded with little pressure of brush or finger. If there is problem of recurrent infection, foul breath, foul taste etc, then tonsils maybe removed.
