What Causes Wheezing And Coughing After Pneumonia?

I have had pneumonia and I am 60 years old. Started 24th Nov. Had five lots of anti bionics one intravenous. Had to be hospitalised due to high temp and infection they also diagnosed pleurisy. I had high doses of two different antibiotics latterly and have now not had them since around the 22nd Dec. I am still wheezing and coughing up pale green phlegm and have a very strong taste of metal/blood on coughing. I have not coughed up any blood. I am feeling well now but concerned about the continued wheezing and coughing and taste in my mouth can you advise? On chest X-ray an enlarged heart was apparent and I am waiting for an appointment for an (echtogram?)something that checks valves etc in heart- query heart failure but doc says all precaution?

Thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your situation and problem.
By your history and description, in my opinion you are having post infectious bronchitis.
Lung infection causes inflammation and some morphological changes in lungs. Due to these, some patients develop bronchitis.
Your symptoms like breathlessness, wheezing and phlegm are suggestive of bronchitis.
So consult pulmonologist and get done
1. Clinical examination of respiratory system
2. PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
PFT is needed for the diagnosis of bronchitis. It will also tell you about severity of the disease. And treatment of bronchitis is based on severity only.
You may need inhaled bronchodilators and antihistamines.
And yes, get done 2d echo for enlarged heart on chest x ray.
