What Causes Weight Loss With A Normal BP?

My 82 yr old mother had heart attack 15 yrs ago, leaving 30% function and defibrillator for arrythmia. Diagnosed 2 yrs ago with Lewey body dementia, lives with me. Recently a drop in health level, i.e. more confused, weight loss, sitting pulse of 52 (B/P is perfect 120/68), sleeping 12 hrs. daily, irritable. Is there a medical condition or just her body starting to give out on her?

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Progression of dementia is causing symptoms of confusion.
2. As she is less mobile, her resting pulse rate along with reduced cardiac function, she will have a low pulse rate.
3. Weight loss is due to reduced nutritional diet intake along with dehydration. Need a round the clock care taker to look into her personal care, nutrition and help in routine activities.
4. Its a progressive disorder and donezepil medication maybe necessary. Meet a psychiatrist for mini mental evaluation and prescription.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
