What Causes Weight Gain While On Lyrica For Sciatica?

I have been prescribed Lyrica for sciatica. I started with 75mg x 2 day, as that was not effective I increased dose ( with doctors consultation) to 75mg in morning ,75mg in afternoon and 150mg at night. This seemed to help yesterday. Now I m wondering about weight gain as I ve read this is a side effect .Also how long do I stay on Lyrica ?My condition was very debilitating and I was in enormous pain and could not function for the first 6-7 days.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello there! Thanks for writing us here.
Been reading your query, Lyrica has a side effect as weight gain but also because sciatica is a painful condition so it restricts physical activities. You should do light exercises while you're on bed or walk around a little and don't not eat lots of carbohydrates as it adds up to your body fat. You can have milk and eggs and also diet rich in proteins which would make your condition better.
