What Causes Weight Gain And Delay In Periods Despite Having Negative UPT?

I had my tubes tied 5 years ago with my last child. I have recently been experiencing weight gain, soreness in the breasts, also milk producing in breasts. I am a few days late on my period but I have had an abnormal cycle in the past. I took a pregnancy test yesterday and it came back with a negative result. What could be going on with me? I am 27 and I am considerably healthy.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Irregular periods with weight gain &breast changes with -ve pregnancy test (has to be confirmed with repeat pregnancy test /USG pelvis) is mostly due to hormonal imbalance (ovarian,/thyroid problem or post tubectomy changes). It needs to be investigated Please consult a gynecologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
