What Causes Weight Gain After Taking Prozac?

I have gained 15 pounds since taking 10 mg Prozac daily and rarely want sex, think I m also going through menopause, started out as anxiety 6 months ago with 2 ER visits. I recently turned 50. Have no desire to exercise anymore. Just blah. Any suggestions?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Some antidepressants can be associated with weight gain, prozac can be cause weight loss in some persons but everyone reacts differently to medication.

The reduced libido and desire to exercise are likely linked to the mood disorder that you are presently treating.
It may indicate that the mood disorder is not responding adequately to the medication.

If you are also having weight gain along with inadequate response, you may need to consider switching the medication.
This option would need to be discussed with your doctor.

I hope this helps
