What Causes Watery Nasal Discharge While Suffering From Lower Respiratory Tract Infection?

I got diagnosed with a lower respiratory infection a few days ago and was put on some antibiotics. Just yesterday, my nose began to discharge this weird water like substance. It happens about every 5-30 minutes and is even keeping me up at night. It is clear and runs down very fast. Any idea what might be going on? Oh, and whenever I blow my nose, my ears pop.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Nasal discharge is a very common symptom of upper respiratory tract infection.

I suggest you use saline nasal spray and also a humidifier at home.

I suggest you drink liquids and a lot of rest.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
