What Causes Vomiting And Dehydration?

Hello, I have been sick since Thursday. On Friday I went to the ER because I was vomiting the whole day and got really dehydrated. After blood work and swabs were done, the doctor was worried about my appendix because my white cell count was a little high so they did a cat scan of my abdomen. All tests were normal. Two bags of fluids and three prescriptions later he sent me home saying I had nothing more than a cold. But here it is Tuesday and I'm still vomiting. My fevers have decreased and have been staying between 99 degrees Fahrenheit and 101.8 degrees Fahrenheit. I have also noticed white patches on my tonsils and when ever I try to eat or drink something, it tastes bad (like stomach acid) no matter what it is. My discharge papers say to go back to the ER for a follow up. I feel better but I'm still coughing and throwing up. Should I go back??

Hello,

It seems to be a viral infection and if it so then you will have to be patient. It will take a few days but it will come around for sure (If not the bacterial or other systemic infection as the WBC being increased) it is no need go back to emergency room if you are doing well, in viral infection coughing is pretty common and it will be there still more days but no need to worry about it,

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Akhtarhusain
