What Causes Vertigo, Anxiety And Elevated Heart Rate Despite Taking Amoxiclav And Flonase For A Sinus Infection?

Hello, Two weeks ago, I woke up with vertigo. it lasted about 1/2 a day. I still was lightheaded and I also had a bad headache and my ears felt very plugged up. I waited a few days and it wasn t getting better, so I went to the doctor. She checked me out and said it looked like I had a sinus infection and also there was fluid behind both ear drums. I was put on AmoxClav 875 125 and prescription Flonase. I have finished the medication and I still have plugged ears. I left for vacation last week and the past few days, I feel ok sitting, but when I get up to walk around, I feel off balance, nausea, anxious, heart races and just very strange. I also started getting a dry cough today.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Vertigo and nausea can be related to Meniere disease which is an issue of the middle ear. I suggest using Betahistine Hydrochloride daily to help relieve the symptoms. I also suggest avoiding salt int he diet which can trigger the symptoms. I recommend to consult an ENT specialist if the symptoms continue.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
