What Causes Vertigo And Vomiting?

I woke up this morning with vertigo (I have never had vertigo before) It seemed extreme, very out of balance, my eyes seemed to roll around in my head when I tried to open them. When I stood to walk, I totally lost balance, but also had to vomit. I walked like i had played the spinning game, walking to the side. I spent the next 3 hours laying down but when I changed position I would get the vertigo again. I threw up every time I had the vertigo sensation. By 11:00am the vertigo and vomiting ended, but I was left with a dull headache. Is this something I should go to the ER for? I stayed in bed until 2:00 and just got up to eat. So far I have not even been dizzy, but do have the headache.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for the query. I undrstand yiur query.
Vertigo can occur due to some problem in brain or middle ear...ranging from sumple sudden rash movement of head to middle ear involvement by bacteria... virus or allergy or problem of blood supply to base of brain.
Fortunately you are relieved after few hours of rest... still you need investigations &consultation toknow exact cause &get it managed... in order to prevent recurrance.
Though you don't seem to have ER care ...Please consult your ENT specialist /neurophysician earliest.
Thanks.
