What Causes Vertigo And Tinnitus After Taking Rocephin For Ear Infection?
my wife had ear infection back in October, ENT prescribed rocephin (2grams) by iv for 7 days, one a day. Ear infection is gone but tinnitus and vertigo have been bad since then. We have had mri, cscan, ultrasounds and nothing found, all good including blood work, paps smear, gall bladder, thyroid. Shes 59 perfect health but this vertigo and tinnitus wont leave. Was it the Rocephin?

Rocephin (ceftriaxone) is not reported to cause tinnitus and vertigo. So it seems highly unlikely that Rocephin is causing it. Instead I suspect your wife is suffering from Labyrinthitis.
It is inflammation of inner ear and most probably occurred due to previous ear infection your wife had. Discharge from ear is not necessary in such cases and there are no specific tests to confirm it.
You may need to consult an E.N.T specialist who will prescribe you medications for:
• Vertigo like meclizine or any other anti-vertigo drug.
• Nausea and vomiting is also common with vertigo so Prochlorperazine is prescribed.
• Short course of clonazepam to treat anxiety which your wife may also experience.
• Short course of antibiotic.
