What Causes Variations In Ejection Fraction Values?

Over the past 6 weeks have had a stress test, cauterization, 2 echoes, and numerous EKG s by two different cardiologists. I have been told of varying EF s from 25 to 45. I has told I urgently need an ICD and also told I do not qualify for one. I am very confused. Is this degree of variation possible. Thank you, James Hall
