What Causes Variation In The HCG Level During Pregnancy?

Hi, I am 5 weeks pregnant. My hcg levels were fine last week. First one was 77, then 184 two days later (last week). Yesterday 258 (3 days after the last one. Today, it dropped to 207. I am severely constipated (which usually means dehydration). Could this have affected my hcg levels?

Hi,

Why are you repeating hcg levels so very often? Is this a natural pregnancy or IVF ?have you had any bleeding or crampy pain in the abdomen?

Dehydration or constipation does not effect hcg levels.

You should repeat hcg only after 1 week now to see if they have crossed 1000 IU,then an ultrasound can be done to identify the location of the pregnancy. If hcg decreases to less than 5 ,then it was a chemical pregnancy only, and nothing more needs to be done. If hcg level between 50 and 1000 then please see a gynaecologist for further complete evaluation.
