What Causes Vaginal Spotting During Early Pregnancy?

Hi, I did ivf with pgd and got a positive preg test. All looks ok but started bleeding 2 days ago. I think it s to do with the progynova that I stopped over the weekend and started using again on Tuesday. I was told to continue using till heartbeat of baby. Can this affect the pregnancy?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear
I understand your concern
Vaginal spotting could be due to Hormonal changes, Infections,
Subchorionic hemorrhage.
I would suggest to consult the gynecologist and get examined under the USG scan to confirm the cause.
Progynova is given in IVF cycle to maintain the endometrium in luteal phase and helps in maturation of endometrium.
If you will be pregnant then it should be continue up to 6-8 week of pregnancy.
If endometrium grown improper, lead to failed implantation.improperly.
So you can continue progynova and does not affect the pregnancy.
Progesterone hormone supplements are also given.
Take complete bed rest, drink plenty of water, eat healthy diet.
Hope this may help you
