What Causes Vaginal Spotting Between A Menstrual Cycle?

Due to unusual spotting 2 weeks after my menstrual I went to see my ob, giving her my symptoms and receiving a routine pap smear she prescribed metronidazol gel for 5 days one dose per night. After my first application I woke up the following morning with a heavy flow of blood light red in color going about my day when I went to the restroom the blood on the pad was dark but when I wiped it was light red again could this be the affects of the gel. My period is pretty regular so now I m a little confused I was told that the spotting between menstrauls could be normal but I ve never had spotting occur in between my cycles could it just be the gel throwing off my balances

Hello,

It is intermenstrual spotting and will settle by itself. If symptoms persist you can consult a gynaecologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
