What Causes Vaginal Spotting And Nausea While On Birth Control Patch?

I am on the generic ortho ever patch as my birth control. I have sex daily with my partner with no other form of protection, just the patch. I had a couple drops of light pink spotting a few days ago, and have had a couple drops of brown discharge one time each day for the next 2 days. I have been experiencing nausea, backache, nipple sensitivity, bloating, and eating more. My period isn t due until this Friday-sunday. Could I possibly be early on pregnant?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
What symptoms you are experiencing like vaginal spotting, nausea, backache, nipple sensitivity, bloating and increased appetite could be due to side effects caused due to birth control patch.
These symptoms should gradually subside and are experienced in the initial stages while you are on such patch.
Generally, such birth control patches should offer protection against pregnancy up to 99%. In case you have doubt about being pregnant, you can take a urine pregnancy test.
Also, if such symptoms persist and bothers you, you may have to change the mode of contraception that would suit you on consultation with Gynaecologist.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
