What Causes Vaginal Itching After Intercourse?

Hi I am 18. Me and my bf has sex about 4 days ago. I am on birth control. Before we had sex, I had symptoms of a yeast infection but very little discharge. I just thought my new soap caused some irritation. It itches so bad that I went to the ER two days ago and they did a pregnancy test - it was negative. They gave me a pill to cure yeast infections (fluconazole) and told me to use monostat so I have been using that for two days now. They said I would feel relieve the next day but nothing has changed. It s still itching and I am 4 days late for my period... What could this be from?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, thanks for using Healthcare Magic.

I understand your concern.
In the case of Fluconazole has no effect, it is necessary to think of other causes besides fungal infections, namely:
1. Chlamydia
2. Gonorrhea

I strongly recommend that you do vaginal discharge examination and get treatment simultaneously. Avoid having sex when the health conditions of your vagina are disrupted.

To relieve itching, you can do:
1. Keep the intimate area clean.
2. Keep the vagina dry
3. Avoid ingredients that can irritate the vaginal skin including vaginal cleansers.
4. Avoid scratching, do a cold compress or rinse cold water to relieve itching.
5. Drink antihistamines such as loratadine or cetirizine
6. Immediately go to the doctor.

Hope this helps.
Take Care.
