Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had an infection in my ovaries a couple of times. The first was many years ago and the next was 3 years ago, which I went to the emergency room and was admitted to the hospital over nite. My uterus was also enlarged. They gave me an IV with medicine(S) and sent me home the next day with more medicine. Two months after that I was given the Lupron shot and then again 3 months later to shrink my uterus and put me into menopause. I have not had trouble since then. I had my yearly physical in early july. (I am pre-menopause and have had occasional hot flashes and vaginal dryness). At that time I told my doctor that I have a raw feeling externally, some vaginal dryness during sex and some discharge. Does this sound like a menopause symptom or bladder or other infection. Now it is still there and seems a little worse. I feel that area, like it s raw and sore and maybe a little bubbly inside. I had a very very lite period the last 2 months and had not had one since last nov. 2014. Does is sound like a bladder infection (I had one many years ago) or is is menopause or something else.?
* As per my clinical experience, the dryness of vaginal region is related to estrogen deficiency status from pre menopausal age and hormone status.
* A local application of estrogen cream does help tremendously in this regard with soothing agents as calamine lotion or lubricants before vaginal intercourse.
