What Causes Vaginal Bleeding While On Depo Provera?
HI I’m on the depo provera contraception injection and i’ve only had one 3 month dose. It was my first dose and I have been bleeding since the 29th of october and I am still blessing today which is the 14th of December. I am due my second shot/dose at the end of the month. Is it normal to be bleeding this long and when will it stop ? It’s affecting my sexual life
Hello there I have read through your question and understand your concern. After a depo provers shot many women experience breakthrough bleeding and heavy bleeding for a few months. This is because the shot contains progestin and the body takes time to adjust to such high levels of progestin. The side-effect may continue for three to six months after which the body adapts to the high levels of hormones. But if you are experiencing bleeding for more than fourteen days you should talk to your gynaecologist about it. She may prescribe you advil for a few days. If that does not work she may also put you on estrogen therapy. I hope that answers your question. If you have any further questions please feel free to write. Thank you for choosing healthcare magic.
