What Causes Vaginal Bleeding During Pregnancy?

My friend is in her first or second month of pregnancy and is having some bleeding problems. She is worried that this might affect the baby, causing a mental deficiency problem or something similar/. She is also concerned that she may lose the baby. Any words to console or uplift her spirits and lessen her concern?

Hi dear and thanks for your query.

Having bleeding during the first trimester of pregnancy is not normal.
She should contact with her doctor because she should do an ultrasound to confirm well-being of her pregnancy and determine the reason of bleeding.
The most common reasons are subchorionich hemathomas(.Chorionic hematoma (also chorionic hemorrhage) is the pooling of blood (hematoma) between the chorion, a membrane surrounding the embryo, and the uterine wall. With an incidence of 3.1% of all pregnancies,it is the most common sonographic abnormality and the most common cause of first trimester bleeding.)
Bed rest for the duration of bleeding has been associated with a lower rate of miscarriage and a higher rate of term pregnancy.

All the best
