What Causes Urinary Incontinence Post Radical Prostatectomy?

I am a prostrate cancer survivor for 10 yrs. now . I had a radical prostatectomy 10 yrs. ago. Which was successful & they spared my nerves. However,I have had incontince for the last 10 yrs. I am presently under a specialist care;and one of the methods we tried was a 6 month period of catheterization which un fortunately did not work!!I have been using approx. 8-10 pads aday!! Futhermore, I am undergoing urological physical therapy, which has helped. However, how does a man like me return to work?.com

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is quite common after prostate surgery because of injury to nerves controlling bladder function. Long term physiotherapy is required to maintain adequate continence.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
