What Causes Urinary Incontinence And Foul Smelling Urine?

Hello. I am 52 yrs old. Had bariatric surgery 6 mos ago.Have lost 80 lbs....Last week began some strange symptoms.....I woke up one morning and had urinated all over myself...That happened 2 x's in the last week. About once a day since the incontinence episode my urine smells really bad....like strong foul smelling. I did a dip stick several times...it was negative. I have no pain or urgency. I did notice for a month or so prior to these symptoms I was having pressure in my bladder area which is now gone only to have these other symptoms. I don't feel bad. I don't always get in my daily requirement of fluids but I do try to get as much as I can. Do you have any idea? should I wait it out or go see my Doctor.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query. I am Dr. Rommstein, I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can.
Urinary incontinence is common along women after 50 and usually is caused by urinary infections or weakened pelvic floor. This is also a common and often embarrassing problem. If overreactive or incontinent bladder affects your daily activities, don't hesitate to see your doctor. For most people, simple lifestyle changes or medical treatment can ease discomfort. It is treated with specific medications, pelvic floor muscles exercises, electric stimulation of bihevioral treatment and in most cases this is adequate for incontinence control. If Cystitisis a cause as an bacterial infection then it must be treated with antibiotics..Surgical options are reserved for severe and intractable cases.
I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
