What Causes Urinary Incontinence After A Laser Lithotripsy?

Hello, I'm 22 years old (today!) and just returned home from a laser lithotripsy (in my right kidney) procedure to remove a .8mm kidney stone. I had a stent previous to the surgery because of a severe infection in my bladder and kidney. After the procedure today another stent (with a thread attached for later removal) was put in. I've been having EXTREME incontinence since being discharged (not leaking; constantly urinating with absolutely NO control over it, been having to wear adult briefs to keep my clothing and surroundings clean.) It's been about five hours since the procedure so I'm just wondering if this is normal for the procedure I had done, and if not, should I go in right away? Any answers and advice would be wonderful. Thank you!

Hello,

This amount of incontinence is not normal at all after laser lithotripsy. There might be some displacement of the catheter while transportation from the hospital. Emergency room visit is strongly recommended.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
