What Causes Urge To Defecate Despite Suffering From Anxiety?

I ve never had anxiety or stress, but within the last 3 months I feel like anxiety is causing me to have stomach problems that result in me having the urge to go to the bathroom. It is really bad when I travel or am in meetings and this has never been a problem in my life, but has been consistently bad recently. Any suggestions?

Hello,

Urge to defecate is called tenesmus. Seen in rectal irritation or infection or irritable bowel syndrome or hemorrhoids or inflammatory bowel problems etc.

Treatment may depend upon the causative. Need stool examination and colonoscopy.

Avoid spicy food and alcohol avoid smoking and caffeine drinks.

Use tablet sporulac thrice a day for five days.

If symptoms not improved please consult your gastroenterologist he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
